Originally Cathedral Museum, where important finds artistic escaped the destruction caused by the bombing of the Second World War. A first museum there was after World War II when Archbishop Tommaso de Luca opened to the public his private collection. The real show, however, was inaugurated on May 3, 1988 (the feast of St. Thomas) in four rooms on the left side of the Cathedral, once the private chapels used for worship.
